Jon Wing Lum founded  WING PRODUCTIONS  in 1964 and  WINGSTAR INC. in 1997.  A proponent of "Catalytic Cinema"
he is devoted to projects that bring about meaningful social change.  Credits include the PBS-“TIME TO CARE” Mini-Series, Practical Help For Family Caregivers.  This series was a fulfillment of a federal grant mandate for the New York State Office for the Aging to reach out, educate and inform the public about issues that family caregivers face with their elderly parents and spouses. Included in deliverables were 2 training videos for New York State Office of Advocate for the Disabled. “VEGETABLE SOUP” 39 half hour programs designed to encourage positive ethic identity in minority children and “PLAIN FOLK”, a historical series about little known minority people and their contribution to American history.  These programs were mandated by the Civil Rights Act, aired nationally on NBC & PBS and seen by 200 million people. Jon Wing Lum was also a senior producer of “PEARLS”, a series about the Asian American experience seen on PBS by 90 million people. “WHAT’S NEW” a weekly series showing the state-of-art in the world’s technology, industry, science, energy, agriculture, medicine shown on CCTV in China
with an estimated audience of 300 million per show.
